Bonnie Doerfler Loman, a self-taught artist hailing from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, discovered her love for art at a young age from her craft-loving Babka( Grandmother) . Growing up in the artistic environment of her grandmother's crafting endeavors, Bonnie found her passion for creativity early on.
Throughout her school years, Bonnie excelled in art, winning accolades for her innovative works, including an honorable mention for her elephant spoon sculpture. Despite her early success, her career with the Veterans Canteen Service led her away from pursuing art full-time.
After 37 years of dedicated service and retirement, Bonnie and her husband John relocated to the idyllic setting of South Walton in 2011. It was here that Bonnie reignited her artistic flame, unpacking her craft supplies and exploring various mediums such as mixed media, oils, watercolors, and acrylics.
Bonnie's vibrant and lively artworks often depict the beauty of South Walton, infused with a personal touch from her mother's cherished jewelry collection. Her unique creations have garnered recognition, with her oil painting "Poppy Quintet" being showcased in the esteemed Top of the Class Competition in 2014. Bonnie’s oil painting ,” A Mother’s Love,” won an Honorable Mention at the Foster Gallery, MiramarBeach, Fl.2023.
Bonnie's artistic journey serves as a testament to the belief that it is never too late to pursue one's passion. Her creative spirit and dedication to her craft continue to inspire others as she creates and evolves her artistic identity in the picturesque surroundings of South Walton.
